Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Nexting.
Product
What is Nexting?
Nexting is an Agent remote-control product connecting your computer, phone, and wearable hardware. It brings Claude Code, OpenClaw, and Codex into one product so you can view and control your own agents from anywhere. The PIN and Ring let you send an idea on the go; the app can show the session and mirror your computer when you need the full context.
How is Nexting different from a phone voice assistant?
Nexting is built around the agent workflows you already run. It connects the computer where your agent works with your phone and wearable hardware, so you can send work, see the live session, respond when needed, and return to the result without staying at your desk.
What can I do with Nexting?
Use the computer, phone, and hardware together: connect Claude Code, OpenClaw, or Codex; remotely view and control your computer; mirror the screen when you need context; and send ideas through the PIN or Ring. Nexting is designed to cover the full path from Agent communication to remote control and hands-free input.
Does Nexting have a screen?
The PIN and Ring are designed as quick input and status hardware rather than full computer displays. Nexting supports screen mirroring and remote viewing in the app, so you can inspect the computer where your Agent is running whenever the task needs visual context.
What is the Nexting Ring?
The Nexting Ring is our flagship hardware form factor, priced at $699 with the ship date still TBD. It gives you a fast way to send ideas to your Agent, while the phone and computer provide the full remote-control and screen-mirroring experience.
Which AI models and agents does Nexting support?
Two paths. Bring your own agent (free, no monthly fee): Nexting integrates deeply with Claude Code, OpenClaw, and Codex — the agents you already run. Or Nexting Pro ($29/month or $279/year): an optional managed tier with Claude, GPT-4o, and Gemini, zero setup.
Hardware & Setup
How do I set up Nexting?
Download the Nexting iOS app, create an account, then press the button on your Nexting device to enter pairing mode. The app will find it automatically via Bluetooth. Scan the QR code on the device to activate. Setup takes about 2 minutes.
What's in the box?
The Nexting PIN device, a USB-C charging cable, and a quick start guide. The device comes with a built-in pin mount — no additional accessories needed.
How long does the battery last?
Nexting is designed to last a full day of typical use on a single charge, and recharges over USB-C. We'll publish tested battery and charge-time figures as we finalize the hardware.
Is Nexting waterproof?
The current build is a 3D-printed enclosure with no IP rating, so keep it away from water for now. It handles everyday use, but don't submerge it or expose it to heavy rain.
Which devices are compatible?
Nexting requires an iPhone running iOS 17.0 or later. Android support is on our roadmap.
Pricing & Plans
How much does Nexting cost?
The Nexting PIN is $129, shipping now with free worldwide shipping. Connecting your own agents (Claude Code, OpenClaw, Codex) is free — no monthly fee. Nexting Pro, the optional managed tier (Claude, GPT-4o, Gemini), is $29/month or $279/year.
Do I need a subscription to use Nexting?
No. The Bring Your Own Agent (BYOA) tier is free — connect Claude Code, OpenClaw, or Codex and pay no monthly fee. Nexting Pro ($29/month or $279/year) is optional, for people who want a managed agent with Claude, GPT-4o, and Gemini and zero setup.
What's included in the Pro subscription?
Nexting Pro ($29/month or $279/year) is the optional managed tier: hosted access to Claude, GPT-4o, and Gemini with zero setup. If you already run Claude Code, OpenClaw, or Codex, you don't need Pro — the bring-your-own-agent tier is free.
Can I try Nexting before buying the hardware?
Yes. Download the Nexting iOS app and use it with your phone's microphone — no hardware required. When you're ready for the hands-free experience, order the PIN.
Is there a return policy?
Yes. We offer a 30-day return policy for the hardware PIN. If you're not satisfied, return it for a full refund.
Privacy & Security
Does Nexting record everything?
No. Nexting only listens while you hold the button to talk — there is no always-on microphone and no wake word. Audio is streamed for transcription and immediately discarded — we do not store raw audio recordings.
Where does my data go?
Voice is transcribed via our secure cloud STT service (Whisper), then sent to the AI model you've selected. Raw audio is never stored — only the transcribed text. We never sell your data.
Is my conversation end-to-end encrypted?
Optional end-to-end encryption is available for BYOA sessions and is currently off by default. When enabled, your endpoints hold the keys and the cloud relay carries ciphertext. Managed Nexting Pro sessions are not E2E because the managed service processes the request.
Is my health data safe?
Health data accessed through HealthKit is processed locally on your device. It is never sent to our servers or shared with third parties, in compliance with Apple's HealthKit guidelines.
Developers & Extensibility
Can I build custom skills for Nexting?
Yes. Nexting uses the OpenClaw plugin system — an open standard for AI agent tools. You can write plugins in TypeScript that add new capabilities to your Nexting, from home automation to custom APIs.
Is Nexting open source?
Nexting is proprietary. Only the Nexting Devices SDK is open source; it provides the public device-side and Host integration contracts for compatible hardware. The firmware, iOS app, cloud infrastructure, and product hardware are not open source.
Can I self-host the AI backend?
Advanced users can run local models through the OpenClaw plugin system. The plugin SDK is open source and supports custom AI backends.
